Lau Ka-ho was born in Hong Kong in 1953. Upon graduating from university, he started working for Rediffusion TV in 1975 as a director, and was promoted to producer in 1979. His body of work as a TV producer includes Love Story 1980 II (1980), The Young Dowager (1983) and Drunken Fist II (1984), among others. Lau joined the film industry in 1985 and directed I Do (1985) for Cinema City, which did moderate business at the box office. Lau subsequently returned to TV, and became a producer at TVB in 1987. During his tenure, Lau was responsible for many classic TV series such as The Final Combat (1989) and The Justice Of Life (1989), which made Stephen Chow a star, as well as Big Family (1991) and Heart of Greed (2007). After serving for TVB for 25 years, he took the position of General Manager of the production department at nowTV in 2012.
